Bolton secured a good win with well-taken goals, one of them exceptional from Long. His speed off the mark and running at defenders should be a real asset to the team. I thought our goalie had a poor game and should have done much better with their long-range effort. Might just see Howard back between the sticks come Tuesday. Still don't know why Parky picks Trotter when others are available. Yes, he scored an important goal, but his all round game isn't good enough. He has no athleticism whatsoever. It's also about time the manager & co, found a solution to Bolton's poor starts in the second half of every match. Again, they allowed a poor Walsall team to dictate for large periods in that second half. We will pay the price for it some day. It won't do. We should be hammering teams like that. But on a happier note, the lads put the shananigans upstairs behind them and secured a good win. Scunny are now in sight and in reach of our guns!! Three points on Tuesday are vital to put pressure on them.

I think Trotter went in as things were shuffled around to address the right back problem. The start of the second half can't have been helped by what happened at half time, but I do get how we rarely play well for a full 90

Today Parky backed Trotter and hoped the fans would get behind him. The lad does polarise opinion, but it seems the majority of us do not rate him as a midfielder. For me, he has been a poor (and expensive) signing. Indeed, both he and Vela were the reason why we were so poor come the second half. Neither of them got to grips with the opposition in midfield. And it happens time and time again. The last really effective midfielder for us was Bannan. He could tackle, see a pass and get up and down efficiently. We badly need another of that ilk!

I wanted Bannan more than Le Fondre that summer! In the end we couldn't afford either of them. Bannan has a crap taste in films though... Problem is neither Trotter nor Vela are as effective when deeper, as they had to play last night. Going forward if they persist with 3-5-2, push Vela up, and swap Thorpe for Trotter. Or Derik, but then you have to being Dervite in, which would go down well...not
