Player of the Month Candidates - February
February was a decent month. Big home wins over Bristol City and Sunderland helped us in our quest for survival. We also got a rare away point at Norwich, while coming back from behind to draw with Fulham. We did suffer back-to-back away defeats however, with poor performances at Cardiff and QPR.
Here are our four nominees, vote using the widget on this page, and we`ll announce the winner at some point on Friday.
There was once a bit of a debate of who our first-choice goalkeeper should be. Not anymore. Alnwick has been excellent in recent games, there was one goal at Cardiff which he has to take some blame for, but we wouldn`t have beaten Sunderland, probably lost to Norwich, and folded earlier than we eventually did at QPR if he wasn`t there.
Phil Parkinson has toyed with moving Ameobi into a central attacking position, and it worked well in the Bristol City game with that fine individual goal. As well as exploits on the ball, he hasn`t been afraid to try and get stuck in too.
Some good shifts at the back. Also did well at QPR considering he had to deal with large stump Matt Smith.
We looked more stable at Cardiff once he came on He played well more often than not, including preventing a potential Norwich goal at the weekend.
