'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Tomorrow's People?

According to Marc Iles from the Bolton News, the Whites will sign a striker tomorrow, Monday 17th, but there is no name, as yet.

Word is, however, the mystery man is Cardiff's, Joe Mason.

It's always exciting for fans when a transfer is imminent, but a lot of Wanderers' fans will utter 'meh' at the news of Mason's arrival.

The previous loan spell at the Reebok for Mason was underwhelming at best. But, the young lad obviously has something about him and if utilised correctly- in a two-up-top system with target-man Jutkiewicz or playing alongside Beckford- he could flourish.

Let's be honest, we haven't seen the best of Joe, that's for sure.

Let's just hope, Dougie's got plans for Joe Mason... big plans and he doesn't end up being another (zero) impact-sub.

I hope to god we don't resign Mason.

I'm with Muur, I saw nothing to suggest that Mason can do a job for us. He may well be a cracking player for someone somewhere at some point but it isn't us, here and now.

Beckford, Sordell, Eaves, Davis, N'Gog, Wilkinson, Jutkiewicz, Hall, Odelusi, You can never have enough forwards eh?

Another inspirational piece of business. YAWN.

Well it looks like it is Mason. Thanks for that DF I hope to be proved wrong but I will be amazed if he scores at all let alone the no. of goals we need. I will of course support him as I would anyone wearing the shirt though.

I am staggered DF is still in place to be honest!! Mason it is. So I guess its one up alone out of the three as it is too much to ask for one dimensional Dougie to admit he is wrong wrong wrong. Again at weekend his delusional thinking suggests we were anything better than fortunate to come away with a result. We are not good enough individually or collectively to win 1-0 every game like he thinks we are able to. If we were doing that it would still be boring but he would be vindicated. Here is looking forward to another 1-1 at home to Watford.

I think Mason coming in may see us use a different formation, i certainly cant see DF dropping Juke for Mason. I think Mason will play off Juke in the No 10 role with us having a narrow midfield of Spearing, Trotter, Davies and one other - possibly Eagles. I think Mason has been given some unfair comments from some fans, i think he is a talented player who likes the ball into feet and can link up well when he has support around him. Juke has done well, i just hope his penalty miss doesnt knock him too much as he has already surprised some fans with his performances - yet again another player who was written off before they even kicked a ball for us along with Feeney, Danns, McNaughton, etc - even the link with Dyrestam has been slagged off - some people need to get real and understand that we arent going to be signing any household names for the foreseeable and give the ones that do come in a fair crack, not writing them off before they have even put a training kit on.

I'm interested to see what the roles given to the strikers will be seeing as we'll have a 1m signing and two loanees vying for at most two and at times just one spot in the starting line-up. Mason is not cut out to be a lone striker but given the competition at the time - Beckford was unfit along with Cravies and Le Gogster was hopeless - I guess I don't hold anything against DF for trying him up top on his own with no support as he might have made a fist of it. I can't see him playing up front alone again, however, it'll be more likely alongside Beckford and/or Jutkiewicz.

Delighted to be proved wrong at the first time of asking. Mason and Jutkiewicz were brilliant today.

Jolly good show. Now put a run together and cheer everyone up!! Best performance for some time.

Great performance on Saturday, especially from the front two, they looked a real handful and Mason in particular was a shining light. Shame about Mikael Dyrestam's move falling through over a 400k development fee which we apparently FFP-don't-have - the full back hunt goes on.
robmoss2k
Has everyone completely lost interest? Or could it be stunned silenceafter the pperformance and result on Saturday?
Boltongav
Well it took me two days to recover enough just to type that...

Half Term I think!! Everyone at Centerparks. Interesting spin on LOV site from Chris Manning. I probably agree with hime but was so chuffed to see an actual win and performance I am still glowing with optimism. Sat a big test.
Nathans Phase
Was great to see some of the passion and commitment that's been sorely lacking in recent weeks. Nothing less than a win against Blackburn is enough though (especially for those of us who went to Ewood Park this season!)

Mr Ecky have you fainted after the weekend??
