Bolton Wanderers Deadline Day Spectacular

16:27- Afternoon everyone. So, with me not waking up until 3pm, and Twitter dying on the most important day OF THE YEAR, I thought I'd have missed something concrete to give you. I have not.

I'll update this page as and when something happens, and when Twitter inevitably dies again. So far, all rumours, but the Medo deal looks almost certain. Don't know much about the lad, but we need options in central midfield, especially when Spearing returns to Liverpool in the summer. If Spurs were after him last year, he must be worth a 300k punt.

Alonso is wanted by several parties, but we'll see...

16:48 - Just seen that Louis Saha has left Sunderland by mutual consent. Surely we could offer him a short term, pay-as-you-play deal?

18:20 - So, this is currently less interesting than I thought. With that in mind, who should we be looking at? Comments below Vital readers!

18:52 - So Stephen Warnock has moved to Leeds on a free transfer. A shame; it would have been great to get him back. However, good news in the left back department is the closing of the Italian transfer window, meaning that Marcos Alonso cannot complete a move to Fiorentina. Also, a Medo medical is underway.

19:13 - Michael O'Halloran is staying at Tranmere for the rest of the season. He can stay there; he's hardly setting the world alight, and I doubt he'll make it with us any time in the near future.

It also looks like we've signed young defender Cian Bolger. More when this is confirmed.

20:29 - Right, I'm back from the shop, and we've signed 20-year old Bolger from Leicester. Looks like one for the future, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him given a chance before the end of the season. Especially if we don't sign another defender by midnight. Medo deal still not done.

20:36 Afobe has gone back to Arsenal apparently.

YYYYEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!

21:57 - It looks like we have signed Steve De Ridder on an initial one-month loan deal from Southampton. I have never heard of him, although that doesn't necessarily mean he won't do a good job for us. We've needed a winger since Petrov left, and whilst this probably isn't the player we wanted, it may be the one we need.

22:32 - Sorry everyone, quite distracted by the Stokies on the telly. Just look at them! Oh, and the Medo Kamara deal is DONE! Let's hope he's as good as he's being made out to be. Half an hour to go.......

23:10 - WINDOW CLOSED! A very productive transfer window for the Whites is over. Dougie has managed to get rid of a bit of the deadwood left over from the Coyle regime; whilst bringing in players that can not only help in the future, but can contribute to a late push towards the playoff places. COYWM, and goodnight!

Luis Saha yes please. What is the chance of that. I think he would be worth a six month maybe even twelve month contract.

Ngog linked with Fulham. Only a loan deal though, I would rather keep him personally than loan him.

Away from transfer news I see Afobe has been called up to the u21s and Sordell left out! I can only assume that pearce has not seen anything of Bolton this year. I'm quite happy Sordell isn't going as it keeps him fresh for us and he won't get injured. However why on earth Afobe keeps getting game time for us let alone a call up I don't know.

Don't understand why we are hanging on to Afobe. He is no better than the Japanese winger the arse lent us last season. Which is not very good. Maybe we need to remind Mr Vinegar that we turned Little Jack into an international for him and next time we get his cast-offs we want some proper quality. Bye bye Benick.

We now have Davies (C). Give him some game time & see how many times he hits the onion bag. And get Students in the starting XI asap. Still on a +ve tip!!

er, lack of goals normally translates to a need for strikers, the last thing we need are young kids released for peanuts who may or may not run out in the 1st team for 12 months or never. This all smacks at capitulation, no money, no guts, nothing but damage limitation- lets blame Coyle for everything, Gartside & Freedman happily drawing 10 grand a week. If Saha was on his way out why no enquiry ? everything concentrated on defenders and midfielders when its attacking forwards we need, unless Freedmans master plan is to play our defence up front on Saturday fooling the opposition well Knight can't be any worse than SKD or N'gog, he has as many goals to his name - okay they were own goals - but they still count, he knows where the net is at least.

I fear you may need a glass of red to calm your nerves Mike! I don't think we are going to get the striker we desire but Sordell suddenly looks capable so if it doesn't happen we need to try him and new davies for me and see what happen. Id still like Saha though.

All bo****ks. Gartside has turned the clock back 20 years, we are second division, 3rd divison fodder (bo****ks to new labels) Allardyce gave us hope and good times, rubbish since. Draw man Freedman no more the answer than Lee, Gingeridiot and Cosy Coyle. Can't blame the owner, he has put the money down. Gartside has wasted it and pocketed it. Can't say fairer than that

Anyone hear C***e on Five live? It made me want to vomit - just had to switch off. For different reasons, I loathe him as much as I loathe HWSNBN. What we have had to put up with since Sam left is unbelievable - it is no wonder we are all so negative! I just want to get back to enjoying the game again and looking forward to the next one.

I think we have made some good signings. Medo for one, In fact I'm not sure how we got him and why so cheaply. There are a couple of good ones for the future. De ridder and Davies may or may not work out but for very little money they are worth a try.

What exactly do people expect we were never going to sign 2/3 proven premier league players. The big sam days are gone and although he is doing ok now with whfc he has done nothing since leaving us. The days of a club like ours signing okocha hierro campo stelios etc. are over. The big boys cottoned on and they go there now. Look at Owen to man u and even Beckham to PSG. I am not saying there have been no bad decisions made at our club but times and the game have changed. We have to accept the new reality as it isn't going to change back. Even if we were still in the premier league things would be no different.

nothing matters if we dont start winning, starting tomorrow. Maybe those in charge feel promotion this season is extremely unlikely and instant success is all but a myth. I concede it might take 18 months to turn things around with several more changes to come on player movement in the close season, who knows wht will happen - only the gods. If there remains a chance for QPR this season then we still have a chance. I agree with those who feel with a full strength squad now available our performances should be much better, its down to Freedman and the players to go out and do the business.

Holden injured tonight in a very exciting 3.3 draw against Citeh. He was clattered very hard and lay still for a minute after being upended and rolling over. I saw him holding his right ankle just above his foot and when he stretched his leg I saw a hole in his sock just under his shin guard. He walked off minus boot and sock after treatement on and off the field.

Reports from the ground suggest Holden is ok- we just need to ensure he doesn't play against anyone else called evans. Apparently a bad tackle from george evans to blame tonight.

what the hell is management doing playing our best guy in the reserves when he should be with the first team in London getting his kit out for todays game. Sorry but is promotion not the primary objective ?, having repeatedly tested Holdens fitness on the training ground and moved him into the first team squad during the last fortnight, I would have thought a 45 minute turn out at Luton, adding to his short cameo against Everton, would be more intelligent that exposing him to the reckless lunges reserve defenders often make against better players. If Freedman thinks he must remain cautious in bringing his star players back, someone should remind him with only 18 games left, 15 points adrift of the pack and a priority to climb this league, he does not have that luxury.

I think if we don't win today its definitely all over. Watford in fourth will be 12 points ahead of us if we win. But lose and that is 18 which is too much. Someone always comes good and someone always drops away but it looks impossible from that far away.
