Bolton Wanderers: You Put Your Right Arm Up

Bolton Wanderers: You Put Your Right Arm Up
Morning all. Yes, me again. Just like old times. I've located Al and he's preparing for a job interview. I didn't know you could get an interview for 'Rock God' but, if you can, then I'm off to the job centre later to apply for the position of lothario.

Everyone leapt upon the SKD 'get off Twitter' thing yesterday, but remember where you heard it second. I sometimes think it's like a race, everyone trying to reword content that doesn't plagarise the original and doesn't sound like everyone else's. It's a credit to all the Bolton websites that we manage this. A big tip of the hat to everyone. Even Burnden Aces. Love you guys.

So, what happened yesterday? Well, Paolo di Canio has never heard of Joe Riley. And, speaking of people of the far right persuasion, Millwall are saying that the lad who was banned from the ground for racially abusing Marvin Sordell, hasn't actually been banned, didn't actually racially abuse Sordell and, once he has been completed Millwall and the London Borough of Southwark's version of a speed awareness course (codename: the final solution), he will be allowed to return to The Den and carry on with not racially abusing opposition players.

Having lived in East London, I know the difficulty that Millwall have trying to shake off the reputation that they have. And they are not helped by fans who, looking on Twitter, don't share the reconstructed view of their chief executive or their 'fan on the board'. No one is saying that any club doesn't have its idiots. You only need to look down the bottom end of the Lofthouse Lower to see that. But Millwall's reputation means that they are more easily guilty by association. The tweets of which SKD spoke yesterday that were aimed at Sordell spoke of the worst of humanity. And some of those who did, spoke of their proudness to be Millwall.

I wonder how many of them the club would like to send on their speed awareness course?

Whether Sordell was racially abused or not, Millwall still have a problem and anyone with an iota of sense can see that. The comments coming out of Millwall (we are not all racist) would suggest a very firm sticking of head in sand whilst having fingers in ears and singing play that funky music white boy.

But, hey, at least we've got the prankster, Paolo di Canio, to keep us entertained. Joe Riley took a trip to the south west on Monday, was told that he couldn't be guaranteed football and got straight back on the train.

Strangely, despite claiming to know every player in the top four tiers, di Canio said that he didn't know Riley, thereby suggesting that he DOESN'T know every player in the top four tiers and is, therefore, a big fat liar.

There are many people who have an opinion on di Canio and I am one of them. He is, to quote the last editor here, an odd bod who courts controversy the same way that those currently in the jungle court publicity. He seems to be a good manager, albeit relatively untested, and as such should be a right man to take a young player under their wing for a few months. But, in just the same way that I would rather send a player anywhere but Birmingham due to having to rub shoulders with convicted felon Marlon King, so the same applies with di Canio. His personal views are just too extreme. Everyone is entitled to their own view, as long as it doesn't break the law. You do not necessarily have to be racist to have extreme right wing views, which he does. And anyone who calls Mussolini 'misunderstod'? It's like calling Megson a 'good manager'.

According to the former BEN, Riley is not alone in being looked at to be farmed out. Other players looking to join Tom Eaves and Jack Sampson on a possible return ticket are Michael O'Halloran, Gregg Wylde, Rob Lainton, Marcos Alonso and Sordell himself, the best finisher at the club. It can't be many clubs in our financial position (on Gekko Gartside's reckoning, we lost another 60K yesterday) who can spend 3.5 million on a player and then loan him out.

It does show that Dougie is happy to shake things about and allow those who are either unable or unwilling to stake a place for the first team to get some playing time elsewhere. It's a strange one with Sordell. Olympics in the summer, now he appears to be heading to League One.

I think he'd do well at somewhere like......Swindon.

Back tomorrow with a Barnsley preview. Enjoy.

Birmingham also have Ravel Morisson so with King as wll that's quite bad. Instead of loaning out Sordell, why not terminate Afobe's and then use Sordell instead?
