'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bolton Wanderers: Middle Heavy

Hello everybody on this splendid Tuesday night.

The Andy Lonergan deal finally went through today. Regular readers know my opinion of the keeper, but for the figures waived about, it appears we haven't wasted too much money on him; and I'm always willing to be proved wrong. Now that he is a Bolton player officially, I will be giving him 100% of my backing. Until he messes up. Just wait. He will.

We also appear to have taken Kalifa Cisse, formerly of Reading and Bristol City, on trial. From what I saw from the player, and bear in mind this was when the Royals were in the Premier League the first time round, he looked good.

This may see the end in our interest in Carlos Sanchez, although I'm worried that we're going for the cheap option yet again, and for financial rather than footballing reasons. I would be very interested to see if we do have money to spend in this transfer window, because we could really do with a good striker. NOT ANOTHER MIDFIELDER, OWEN!

We currently have Davies, N'Gog and Sordell (post-Olympics) up front. Unless Tom Eaves bursts onto the Championship scene and scores goal for fun, we're a little light. And what worries me is that there has been no whisper of us signing a striker all summer, correct me if I'm wrong.

This is something that Coyle needs to correct immediately, as I think the one thing that all promotion winning sides have in common is a plethora of striking options at their disposal. Look at how many strikers West Ham had the end of last season. Where are ours?

Maybe we'll be using only one up front and so three is enough to fill that one spot...?

Even though it's not ideal I'm hoping that Coyle will sign a few loanees that will give us a bit of an edge up front, otherwise I can see us struggling to challenge for play-offs (never mind automatic promotion) if our 3 so called strikers dont step up to the plate!

No mention of the return of Holden and CYL is worrying me. I remember when they were on the Physioroom list to return in May. As someone said on a previous thread is C**** trying to do a Bosque playing with no striker and a packed midfield?

Holden due back in October - i think he may even still be in the USA? And the CYL move to Wigan has resurfaced on a spurious website talking about a £5m deal. I haven't even seen us linked with a striker yet either
