Bolton Wanderers: Fabrice Muamba

As you will be aware, during the game a White Hart Lane this evening, Fabrice Muamba collapsed on the pitch and was given CPR and appeared to be defibrillated before being stretchered off and taken to hospital. At the moment he is in a critical condition at the London Chest Hospital in East London.

It isn't something that you think you will ever see happen during a football game played by professional players who are at the peak of their fitness and the fact that it has happened to a Bolton Wanderers player makes it even more shocking if you are a Bolton Wanderers fan.

But what was seen in North London and around the footballing world does gladden the heart. The respect that was given to Fabrice by Spurs fans was something that many thought had left the game. When they joined in the singing of his name, it makes you realise that we are really all as one.

The comments on the match preview are welcomed and I would like to thank everyone who has left them. You may or may not believe in it, but even if you don't, say a little prayer for Fabrice Muamba, his family and his friends tonight. There are a lot of people out there who will be scared and will not be getting a lot of sleep.

Keep on fighting big fella.

I couldn't hold my tears back. I was watching the game on a French channel and the commentators started to cry as well. To be honest with you I thought he had left his soul on the Spurs pitch, everything went completely quiet for about two hours when he left WHL. May God help him, his family, his teammates, his coach and the fans. The whole country is behind him, the whole football world is behind him. Chelsea fan.

You want reality tv? Last night i saw of the most emotional twenty minutes of television i have ever seen. You see, last night i sat down to watch a football match but what i saw was something very different. I am a Spurs supporter. Some might say my dedication to all things THFC is irrational. I am forever searching the net for the latest scrap of spurs related gossip. Tottenham is the first thing i think about when i wake in the morning and the last thing i think about when i go to bed at night. But at the 40 minute mark of last nights game Tottenham didnt matter any more. From the forty minute mark of last nights game i along with thousands of others became Fabrice Muamba supporters. I realize today, much more than yesterday or the day before that, that football really is ONLY a game. With gods help Fabrice will recover and grace the premier league again. The prayers of all Spurs Fans are with you son

stu_u2k
P.S. I hope you can reschedule the game with us lads, don't want you to feel obliged or forced to play but I wouldn't want a buy in these circumstances, hell even as a Spurs fan part of me wants you to win the bloody cup for the boy now!
stu_u2k
nice article Quentin. i was at the game on Saturday, and your fans were a credit too - vibrant support during the football part of the day, and then for Muamba. i only hope the recent small good signs improve for the lad, never knew about him until Saturday, but his story to be playing football in England is a powerful one, and he sounds a top guy off the field too. i too was moved by the occasion and the strong support from all quarters on the day. Respects to all at Bolton, and longing here for the best outcome.

My thoughts are with Fab and his family and close friends at this difficult time. My deepest respect to all Spurs fans at the game and all of your medical staff and to the Doctor who was in the crowd and told them to take him to his hospital - never thought I would see anything like this in 2012. Bolton fan since '52
