Bolton's Poor Form Continues

Bolton`s continued attempts to soil the bed at the worst possible time of the season continued last night as they lost 2-0 to play-off chasing Millwall.

Having lost three on the bounce since the international period, Phil Parkinson scrapped the 3-5-2 he played at Derby, and Darren Pratley made a surprise return to the starting lineup after being out injured.
We started fairly brightly, and who knows, had Adam Le Fondre has capitalised on the couple of chances that came his way, or Flanagan`s shot hadn`t been blocked, or Craig Noone beat Jordan Archer after that scramble, things could have been a lot more different.

But Millwall had chances of their own, and always had a decent pass in them. Eventually, an inswinging cross found Tom Elliott, and we were behind. From there, heads seemed to drop, both from players and fans alike. Millwall doubled their lead in the second half - from our free-kick, Mahlon Romeo ran the length of the field, he was supported, and the gamble for them paid off as the ball was put on a plate for Ben Marshall to finish the game off.

Sammy Ameobi`s shot nearly caught out Jordan Archer just after that, but Wanderers seemed to have few ideas and little belief that they could get back into the game. The midfield was off the pace, while Le Fondre spent more time running onto the flanks than being able to get in genuine goalscoring opportunities and was unable to do much when he got any sort of chance. Results elsewhere at least went our way, but Saturday`s game at Barnsley is now massive, and losing that would likely mean we`re going back down to League One.

Star Player

Sammy Ameobi - Had a difficult chance which went in the side netting, nearly caught their goalkeeper cold, and put in one or two good crosses. Faded though, just like the team
