Wilbraham Earns Bolton A Point

Sheffield Wednesday
1 - 1
Bolton Wanderers

10 March

Attendance: 26,809

Well, that was fun. Aaron Wilbraham, vilified all season, largely deserved, sometimes however the mark overstepped (we should never be booing our own players onto the pitch), ended up being the hero with his last minute equaliser at Sheffield Wednesday. Our supporters were sent into raptures by that goal, just imagine if it was the winner. In any case, the young gentleman with the 'WILBRAHAMOVIC` shirt who I shared a tram with has finally got a return on his expensive investment.

A group of people who didn`t deal with it well at all were a pocket of the home fans. Not helped by South Yorkshire police being at their incompetent best, we were kept just outside the away turnstiles while they appeared not to bother moving on a section of Yorkies, who decided they want to hang around, like extras from the Walking Dead, while one lobbed a plastic bottle, and then something was chucked on our tram on the way back into down. All a little bit daft, probably mainly kids who have never had more than a can before.

Anyway, back to the football. Their goal was probably offside. The linesman did his job, the referee didn`t. At the same time though, I`m not sure George Boyd should score from there, did we play to the whistle?

Maybe a draw was a fair result in reflection. Wednesday seemed to give us space which made for chances from both sides. Reece Burke came into the side and despite the prospect of dealing with the 9ft 7in Atdhe Nuhiu, he put in an excellent, assured performance deputising for David Wheater.

It was largely the same team that got a point at Reading on Tuesday, and by and large it was another good performance. Parky`s substitutions worked well, Wilbraham obviously so, but Filipe Morais did well after replacing the largely ineffectual Will Buckley, but on the other side Sammy Ameobi, while not being able to cap off his performance, was still a huge threat as he found room. Karl Henry also played well, not even picking up his customary booking.

Star Player

Sammy Ameobi - Some great balls in, quite a few chances, a constant threat running at the Wednesday backline, a goal for Sammy would have been much deserved.
