Le Fondre Wondergoal Salvages Draw

Bolton Wanderers
1 - 1
Fulham

Macron Stadium

Referee:

Bolton were worth their point yesterday as an Adam Le Fondre wondergoal saw them come back from behind to claim a draw against Fulham.

Wanderers made just the one change from last Friday`s win against Bristol City, with Zach Clough starting ahead of Tyler Walker. It was a poor start though, we started slowly, and that allowed the impressive Matt Targett to find himself free in the box and give Fulham an early lead.

Indeed, in the first 15 to 20 minutes, Fulham could have quite easily taken the game away from us, playing some excellent football, but after that, we got ourselves together, started to nullify them and have a few chances ourselves. For all the talk about Ryan Sessegnon, and he is a talented player, we`ve managed to keep him quiet home and away, and for all their time wasting it felt quite apt.

Still, it would most likely take something of real quality to get level, and that would be provided in the second half. Phil Parkinson made a surprisingly early double substitution, one of those changes bringing off Clough for Le Fondre. A change that would pay off with one of his first touches, Robinson`s ball down the line was taken on, and was half-volleyed over a scrambling Marcus Bettinelli, who as much as he tried to stretch for it, never stood a chance. It goes down as one of the best live goals I`ve seen at the Macron, and I`m sure many will agree with me.

We could have had a second as well. The once-again impressive Sammy Ameobi had the ball in the net but not before Lofthousing the Fulham keeper, and there couldn`t be any complaints when the whistle was blown and the celebrations were cut short.

Fulham did surge at the end to make for a nervous final few minutes, Stefan Johansen wasn`t dealt with in the area and was allowed to get a shot off which hit the post but given the start to the game and the form the Cottagers have been in, that is a draw that is difficult to complain about.

Star Player

Sammy Ameobi - Yes, Le Fondre`s goal was amazing. I do want to praise Ameobi once again though. He did well with the high balls, when we got the ball he took players on, and had at least a couple of good chances, he may have even scored a goal at one point with shades of the Bristol City one, Another great display from him.
