Morais Delivers Bolton A Point At Millwall

Bolton picked up their first point of the season, coming back from behind to earn a draw at Millwall.

After a goalless first half, where Bolton were solid without being spectacular, Milwall started to threaten more and they went ahead. The home side managed to string a few passes together, and George Saville made a run through the 18-yard-box and managed to poke the ball past Mark Howard.

Wanderers then had to change things, and Filipe Morais got his first league action of the season, replacing Mark Little. We could have been 2-0 down quite easily, but Mark Beevers was able to head a difficult shot from Steve Morison off the line.

Then came the equaliser. Gary Madine was pulled down just outside the area, and Morais needed no opportunity to place the ball into the top corner, where Jordan Archer couldn`t reach it.

If any team were to win it though, it would have been Millwall, with Mark Howard making a few more saves before the afternoon was up. But it is a first point of the season, and at this early stage we`re in 15th, which isn`t too bad a position.

It was a far better defensive performance, the wing backs still offered very little, which changed when Morais replaced Little, but the centre-backs all put in good performances. Going further forward, we struggled, Madine winning a free kick for the equaliser but doing little else, while Adam Le Fondre couldn`t get in the game. Aaron Wilbraham and Adam Armstrong both came on to replace the starting duo, but neither could make a real impact.

Star Player

Mark Beevers gets my man of the match vote. He played well last week but wasn`t helped by the rest of the back line. Today he was, and at 1-0 made the aforementioned clearance off the line to keep us in with a chance of getting something from the game. An honourable mention for Dorian Dervite too. His name hasn`t been mentioned much today, but he was strong too.

The article refers to league position, that's crazy to be looking at the league after two games played.Sure,it was a valuable point, every point gained away from home is huge.Consilidation should be the goal for this coming season, obviously we would want and wish for more and anything is possible however we don't want to see Bolton dragged into a relegation battle, after say 10-15 games it's time to be looking at the table as it takes shape and by then we should be hoping to see more points on the board than games played. If that's not the case,if the club finds itself near the bottom it can be very hard to climb the table so come on lads, let's notch up some wins ASAP.

Fair point - in a cackhanded way I was suggesting that there's a few big clubs that have started worse than us. Ultimately it doesn't really matter at the moment, I'll take survival in any way
