Bolton Wanderers: Can We Start Winning Now?

Four games in, no win. Now, I know that I have stressed throughout pre-season that results don't matter, and I am sticking to that mantra, but performances do. We've not been good at all, and although I'm not worried, it would be nice to see us start on the right foot and get used to that winning feeling.

On Saturday, it was Crewe who were the latest team to stop us on our quest for victory. With a strong travelling contingent, and a few more minutes under the belt, I imagine that many thought that this game was the game that we stopped looking sorry for ourselves, and started to look like potential Championship champions.

And yet we managed to concede quite early in the game, with only a Martin Petrov penalty to hide our shame. It would be nice to see us create a few more chances, and although it is good to see the manager trying a few experiments, I doubt Pratley as a false nine was going to be the answer.

Zat Knight got injured half way through the first half; and even though that was something I'd have looked forward to during the first half of last season, we probably need him now. With injuries already building up, we need to bring in some reinforcements; maybe that Chelsea loan, Owen?

We face Morecambe on Wednesday, and if Crewe wasn't the game to kick on, this will be.

Star Player

Petrov, as he scored and appears to be the only player apart from Lee to have done anything of note this pre-season.

stop dreaming, the team is *****e, it replicates the manager, we are more likely to be relegated once again. Gartside sold the history and future of this great club down the river after putting Coyles interests above the interests of the club and its supporters. It took us several years to get back in the top flight last time and that was with Allardyce at the helm, we are doomed this time round, everyone listen's to what they want to hear while Coyle tells everyone exactly that, meanwhile the reality of what is actually fact is simply ignored, look at the pre season friendlies - a winning team with a desire to win does not go 4 games with nothing, Coyle is garbish - he looks like signing yet another midfielder which gives us 15 midfielders, 3 defenders and 1 forward, probably explains why the team cannot defend, cannot attack but look okay when holding the ball in midfield

What was most worrying was that our back four looked better when Knight went off and we played with four fullbacks. The only benefit of having Knight on the pitch was to deflect attention from Pratley. Riley, Vela, O'Halloran & Wylde all stood out, as did Petrov, but apart from that, distinctly average.
