Preview: Barnsley v Bolton

Barnsley
vs.
Bolton Wanderers

Oakwell

14 April

3.00pm

The big games just keep on coming - Bolton face a six, nine, twelve pointer, must-win, must-not-lose, whatever you want to call it, tomorrow`s trip over the Pennines to face Barnsley is massive. We`re fourth bottom, they`re third-bottom, we`re two points clear but they have a game in hand. Anything other than a win then, and survival suddenly isn`t in our hands. A loss, and we`re in the bottom three tomorrow night. Gulp.

Vital Quotes:

"Detail has to be right - and I have not been happy with some of the goals we have conceded. Sometimes they are small things but when they add up they can be crucial."

Phil Parkinson in the Bolton News.

Barnsley Team News:

Midfielder George Moncur was ill on Tuesday but could return to the side tomorrow. Left-back Zeki Fryers came off with cramp against Ipswich but should be fine.

Player to watch: Kieffer Moore

The likely front two needs to be kept quiet, Moore had a decent scoring record on-loan at Rotherham in League One in the first half of the season. He was then sold by parent club Ipswich to the Tykes in January and has three goals and three assists to his name, partnering fellow recruit, the Swansea loanee Oli McBurnie.

Bolton Wanderers Team News:

Darren Pratley was a surprise return on Tuesday night, there seem to be no new injury concerns, so it`s a case of whether Phil Parkinson twists again.

Player to watch: Anyone in midfield

The midfield performances need to improve - how, we`re probably all out of ideas. I`d drop Derik, move Pratley back alongside Henry and put Josh Vela in front. It seemed to work earlier in the season.

Match Facts & Stats

We won the reverse fixture back in December, Mark Little did his best Cafu impression in a 3-1 win.

Phil Parkinson has never won a game as a manager at Oakwell in seven attempts.

As a club though, we`ve a good record against Barnsley, not losing to them since we were both in the top flight in 1997-98. Our last trip there was on Boxing Day 2013, when Neil Danns scored the only goal of the game.

Bolton have won one of their last 46 away Championship games, while Barnsley have failed to win back-to-back league games at home since August.

Match Prediction:

Rubbish home team versus rubbish travellers. Must be a draw, surely? 1-1.

Next Fixtures:

I suppose there`ll have to be a guard of honour for Wolves next Saturday. Ouch. We then travel to Burton the week after, before hosting Forest on the final day.
