Guest writer Chris Manning looks ahead to the FA Cup game against Everton.

"The opportunity to go up against a Premier League side at home is great and I feel that, given the way we`ve been performing lately, we`ve got a chance," said Freedman.
"Everton have a structure in place where every player knows what they`re doing and that means that we have to be fully prepared.
"David Moyes has done very well and not just this season, but we`ll give it our best shot and we`ve got a lot of quality in our squad."
The tie pits 16th in the Championship against fifth in the Premier League, with the Trotters unbeaten in their last four games.
Despite hailing from across the border, Freedman revealed the FA Cup is a very special competition to him and is eager to succeed in it with the Whites.
"The FA Cup is a very special competition and, even coming from Scotland, I always used to look at what was happening in England with the final," said Freedman.
"Any game that we play, particularly in front of our home fans, we want to do well and we`re eager to win; it will be no different on Saturday.
"We make sure we train in the right way and you`re asking a team of young guys to express themselves against a Premier League side so this is very high up on our list of priorities."

dearly love a victory, expect a defeat, anything can happen, depends who turns up to play well. ps- who is Jan Gregus ? does he speak english ? and if he is good will he play tomorrow ?? the answer to all my questions is no - he might get a game next season but then again Freedman hates rushing his players, who wants to see our best players out on the pitch winning games and getting the points desperately needed and long overdue, well not our manager for one, regardless of our Chairmans promotion objective. If they are good enough, they are ready and they are certainly needed, as for fitness thats why you have substitutes, once they fall over and run out of steam change them over.

have you noticed how in 5 of the last 6 games listed in the results column, had we scored just one goal, or one further goal in each game we would have secured another 7 points putting us on the brink of the play off spots. All our problems are up front, we need goals, we dont need forwards who repeatedly fail to find the net, its akin to hiring a joiner who can't hang a door, or seeing a doctor who can't tell you what is wrong with you, simply pointless and a total waste

Having read the Everton game preview I am a little embarrassed by this "article" really no point writing it if you can't be bothered.

Yes, it is bit thin isn't it, though quite entertaining all the same. This is quite an inspiring tie given some of the great battles we've had with Everton over the years. Heartbreak at Burnden as Bob Latchford put paid to an undreampt of Wembley appearance in the league cup semi in 77. A certain mr Coyle getting the decisive goal in the amazing white hot turnaround at Goodison to win that 90's cup tie, and Stelios and co murdering them 4-1 away in the Prem are just three that spring to mind. Lets hope that today lives up to all that. As for the actual outcome who knows? DF's recent strategy of going for the clean sheet first and trying to nick a goal somewhere along the line may not be enough to get past these. We'll certainly have to be better in defence than history has shown, and I think our caution/impotence going forward is likely to be our undoing. Hope springs eternal though, and for some reason I have a faintly hopeful feeling about today.

I reckon we can beat Everton today, need to get a good start tho, Everton always start ****** and end up with great comebacks. Just check out their results for last 2 months. My money's on Dazza getting a yellow before the 'alf-time orange....

Cracking performance from the lads today. Only poor performances for me were Eagles and Afobe. He really is poor. Pratley was brilliant today as were most of them after 10 mins. My ratings as follows lonergan 8 alonso 8 knight 9 ream 7 ricketts 8 cyl 6 eagles 3 spearing 6 vela 7 pratley 9.5 sordell 7 subs afobe 3 ngog 5 holden 9(well its just good to see him back) Very proud of them as a whole with some work on eagles wing I think we would have done them.

We wuz robbed! Very cruel result but we were the better team for most of the 90 mins and they can all (well most!) be very proud. Subs incomprehensible which is a worry, Afobe should be dropped and sent home and N'goals transferred anywhere asap. We needed another goal Dougy ffs, why not give Craig Davies 10 mins? He has got to be better than either of those two numpties! Great to see Stu S A back.

heartbreak today, all down to not converting chances into goals, the story of the season, one goal a game is not good enough. Why was Holden not given a start ? he is fit and ready, 10 minutes as sub for possibly our best player is another example of Freedmans over cautious approach which smacks at a lack of confidence, Holden lifts the rest of the team when he pays, he could have made the difference today, alas not to be. Hope todays performance is now followed through into the next league game - which we MUST win. Its the last chance saloon from here on.

Ref definitely pro premier league. Have to agree it seems crazy buying a new striker and then playing the same ones who haven't scored all season. Sordell has to start from now on and eagles needs a 'rest'. Afobe just needs his bus fair home. Whatever happened to the Chelsea loan we were supposed to get as part of the cahill deal.

Team played really well, I think CYL deserves more than 6 Boltongav
Especially impressed with Vela, we should use more of this starting line up in league games if this performance is anything to go by
