Sporting Lisbon vs. Bolton Wanderers

Last English Club in UEFA

Bolton reserves face Sporting Lisbon in a game that Mystic Megson has decided isn't very important.

Vital Quotes:

'If we were in the top half of the table, and maybe out of the running for a Champions League place, then we would go out all guns blazing to try and win this competition.

'We are still trying to do that, of course, but we're third from bottom in the league and in a precarious position.'

Gary Megson sounds terribly confused. You don't get much more out of the running for a Champions League place than Bolton are. And are you trying to win the competition or not? Make your mind up man.

Sporting Lisbon Team News:

Liedson has returned to training and will figure at some point. Yannick Djalo is fit, but Miguel Veloso and Milan Purovic picked up injuries in the defeat at the weekend, and Derlei, Tiago and Paulo Renato are also missing.

Player to watch: Liedson

The sort of player who can do nothing for 85 minutes and then score the winner. Gary Cahill beware.

Bolton Wanderers Team News:

The media reports that Bolton are without 12 first team regulars. This is some achievement given that a football team usually comprises 11 individuals. Kevin Davies, El Hadji Diouf, Matt Taylor, Andy O'Brien, Ivan Campo and Ricardo Gardner have picked up mystery injuries which will no doubt have cleared up by the time of Wigan game.

Player to watch: Who knows?

Could Ricardo Vaz Te finally find his feet and stay on them? An overdue appearance for Zoltan Harsanyi would be good, so we'll go for him.

Match Facts & Stats

Bolton go into the game on a miserable run of eight points from the last ten games. Sporting Lisbon are in poor forn also. The game provides a diversion for both clubs.

Good luck for tonight! If it goes to penalties, well you know what will happen.
