The Bash Street Kid Joins Rochdale

The Bash Street Kid Joins Rochdale

Bolton midfielder Chris Basham has joined near neighbours Rochdale on loan for three months. Basham is a product of the Wanderers academy and is one of several players sent out to lower league outfits, in order to gain experience.

'I signed a pro contract this year and am looking forward to the experience of playing here with the side looking for, and wanting automatic, promotion. It will be great experience for me,' he told Rochdale`s official site.

Basham is a versatile player, but his best position is in the holding midfield role, just in front of the back four, where he can use his range of passing to best effect. He tends to be inconsistent with this aspect of his game, but on a good day, can cut an opposition defence to shreds. It`s a beneficial move for all involved. Competition for places and Bolton`s precarious position mean Basham's chances of first team action are limited and Rochdale, who lie just outside the play off places, will benefit from the addition of a promising young player.
