Midfield 'Maestros'

Midfield 'Maestros'

Jay Spearing:

The signing from Liverpool has been deputising as captain when Zat Knight hasn't played. He's very very vocal which is a vital trait for someone in his role. Few would ever want to argue with him. He`s one of our most talented players on the ball, but also has the ability to get physical and loves to get stuck in. He is, in my opinion, the best holding midfielder in the league and he got my vote for our player of the season. Despite somewhat of a slow start, he's got stuck in and has been a crucial member of our team.

Andre Moritz:
The Brazilian has had a very mixed season at the Reebok. Dougie Freedman's little 'present' to the Bolton fans has shown signs of class that few could replicate and at others has made me sad. Watching someone with so much talent being restricted to just the last 20 minutes of a game because he's not fit enough is just depressing to watch. I know this isn't all his fault as he missed out on pre-season training in the Summer, but if we sign him on for another year or two he'll have no excuses. His goals have been helpful, and he's certainly a threat from set plays.

6/10

Mark Davies:

The former Wolves man is exciting to watch, as he gallops forward energetically with the ball. However injuries have really held back his development, and if it weren't for them I think he'd already have at least 1 cap for England. He's missed games again this season due to injury, and with his good reputation I suggest we cash in on him. He's been linked with several Premier League outfits and even though he's a talented player - we could really use the money.

6.5/10

Darren Pratley:

Dazza Prazza as Quentin X used to refer to him, was actually one of our stand-out performers earlier on this season. Although that isn't saying much, given the fact that it took us 10 games to win he put in probably the most effort out of anyone in the team and he scored a few handy goals. Pratley still divides opinion amongst Wanderers fans. His hard work is admirable, but his weird chicken/duck running style is worrying.

6/10

Chung Yong Lee:

Few would have thought that our £2.2 million signing, our hidden gem from South Korea would have taken the Premier League by storm, in the way he did in his first two seasons. He was linked with big clubs and big things were expected of him. Few would have expected that a few seasons later, we'd be in the Championship and Lee would still be playing for us. He clearly still works hard, but his desire to take men on down the flanks and his ability to scare the living daylight out of defenders seems to have gone. He still has shown signs of class - his finish against Birmingham a highlight, but I really don't know if he's still as good as he was before. Perhaps the Championship is more physical, and he's finding that aspect harder? Like Davies, I do think now is the time to cash in on him. He's still very well regarded amongst Premier League clubs.

6/10

Medo:

It's been decent season for the holding midfielder who operates in a similar role to Spearing. I'd like to see a little more of him on the pitch, to be honest. He's decent on the ball, very brave and has played at a very high level before. His stats reveal that he does everything similar to Spearing, just a little bit worse, however as I said before- few are better than Spearing. He's also a threat from long distance.

6.5/10

Liam Trotter:

He joined on loan at to a pretty disappointed set of Bolton fans. He put in some pretty disappointing initial performances. He has, however, got better - his goal against Sheffield Wednesday a highlight. However, his touch has never looked as good as that of Spearing or Medo and his heading is poor disappointing for someone of his height. He's re-joined on a three year deal.

5.5/10

Neil Danns:

Danns joined a poor Bolton Wanderers side, without a win. After his arrival - we won. Our runner-up for the player of the year award, his energy has greatly been appreciated by Bolton fans. While his technical ability isn't great, nor is his finishing; his work ethic and professionalism has made a very positive impact at Bolton. He's re-joined for a year.

7.5/10

Liam Feeney:

Only played a few matches before being re-called by Millwall. Excited fans with his pace and crossing.

Stuart Holden:

Injured again. Life's not fair.

Josh Vela:

Went out on loan to Notts County. Will he every fulfil the potential mounted onto him, much of which by himself.

Chris Lester:

Working with the Development squad at the moment. His hard work has earned him a first team call-up.
