'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Davies Plays An Hour Plus

Bolton could soon have Mark Davies back in the first team fold, to boost the midfield options available.

A serious knee injury suffered last season has seen Davies left on the sidelines since, and it wasn't as if he hadn't been troubled before this injury in February either!

Before that knee problem he had also suffered a should setback, so all I all he's been out for close to a year give or take....

Davies turned out for a good hour, slightly more, when he played 65-minutes of a practice match against Rochdale on Wednesday and as you'd expect he was more than happy to be back and is looking to get back into the first team soon.

He told the official website: 'It's been a long time coming, but it feels great to be back and involved.

'I've been on the sidelines for near enough a year having done my shoulder prior to getting injured in February, so it's been really frustrating.

'Hopefully soon I'll be back in the thick of it with the boys helping them to pick up results.'

Good news, right?

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he's currently not well, he'll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he's got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.

Please include your username so I can put that to it though.

Great news as he is what has been missing. However, as you rightly say he is a bit of a "sicknote" waiting to happen. Let's hope he stays free of injury long enough to make a difference and adds some goals to the midfield.

By the way is it me or has DF become OC recently in his public utterances?? Donny MUST be put to the sword or I do think the reacton from the Reebok faithful will make his position very difficult. I will try to stay quiet and educated in my seat on Saturday...........

To be fair to him both injuries were freak accidents, the one at Huddersfield he fell awkwardly on his shoulder, came back on and got one of the goals in the second half. The knee injury against Peterborough there was no-one near him and his knee just gave way. He will come back stronger and will be a massive boost...someone who can run with the ball, pick a pass....and a midfielder who can SHOOT!!

From what I read, players like Hall, Moritz, Knight, Chungy, Eagles, N'Gog are not worthy of a starting place, so half the 1st team is acknowledged as not fit for purpose, that's a great endorsement of the squad, you could throw C Davies and one or two others in as well. In summary we are well worth our current low ranking in the league. As for DF sounding like OC, that's what happens when you deviate so far away from the truth you insult the intelligence of your audience, much better to be stone cold truthful and tell it as it really is, the team is crap, I myself have no idea, but we all get paid a handsome reward each week for failure so rather than rock the boat I dish out a load of nonsense to the fans and if they are stupid enough to belief what I say, all well and good- for me that is.

Bolton fans are not gullible. With adequate eyesight, they can see for themselves that the team is under pressure. We, the fans are continually on tenterhooks watching them. Sometimes (like Saturday) in utter dismay at what we see. I never got carried away with the eight game run, there were still too many ifs and buts about it, for me. What Dougie learns at the management courses he attends, God only knows. But if it is to misguide the fans with facile comments, it's a big mistake. Not only did he say yesterday that they 'did alright' he compounded this by stating that their application was good. That's just rubbish! Perhaps Lennie should get hold of him and give him a few pointers, in good old-fashioned truthfulness. We know he has a difficult job and that he has some average footballers in his team. And we know he has to support them publically. But the fans need a straight answer at times. It's insulting to do otherwise. Maybe we could understand him a bit more, if he trusted us with the truth!

I would trust DF more if he actually watched what was going on and didn't spend so much time looking at the ground or his assistant's. It is very very difficult to stay positive when not only are the results poor but the performances are shocking. I do however hope despite all this hope there is no booing tomorrow at least until the final whistle. In fact I hope there's none at all as I hope there's nothing to boo.

I hope every supporter remains united behind the team, that we get 3 points today and several goals to boost morale. No matter what our different opinions are we all share a common interest in the wellbeing and success of our great club. I could harp on about how far we seem to have fallen over 18 months and the problems currently faced, today, with a 1 minute period of respect being shown before kick off for Nelson Mandela, its seems right to respect also the unity shared between every single club supporter

Somebody said this week that the better players seem to be dragged down by the rest. I think there's some truth in that. You get the feeling that if only someone could put the chances away, we would be seeing a very different team out there. They must be sick to death of seeing chances go begging. It's soul destroying for everyone. So much so, we can't play with freedom for large tracts of the game. Let's pray that Mason comes up trumps today!

I think Dougie actually believes the stuff he comes out with after matches, I don't think it's spin. That's kind of the problem. He does see these performances as alright and part of a progression towards his vision. Trouble is it looks like it's going to take ages to translate that vision into a consistent winning team (if indeed he knows what he's doing). I hope I'm wrong and he can turn things round more quickly but I haven't seen much evidence to suggest that. Let's hope for a win today and something to shore up the quickly evaporating confidence. And ease my hangover!
Skopelos Chris
Yep. Rioja head and another dour performance would be the end. If ever there was a must win it is today. Trouble is I wouldn't write off any team managed by Mr Dickov. We will as always get behind the team and save the vitriol until after if required and justified..........COYWM

That was about as different a performance as possible to Tuesday night. Every player looked up for it and battled for the cause. So nice to be able to enjoy Saturday night with a good result behind us. I think that was the best we have played all season. Why Pratley isn't playing every week I don't understand.
