Jinx Or Coincidental?

I've previously expressed my thoughts that it's always difficult for me to have too much of an opinion on Bolton matters, but I'll try and offer an educated one if I can!

Based on what I have previously read, and heard, it would appear that opinion is divided on Zat Knight?

The Bolton club captain isn't exactly someone that appears to be massively favoured by the fans, with the former England international maybe failing to live up to expectations or a reputation that went before him.

He came back into the starting XI for the midweek meeting with Huddersfield, this coincided with a 1-0 defeat.

Was this merely coincidental or is he a jinx?

Since his last start for Bolton, when Leeds were the opposition at the Reebok on September 14th, 11 games had been played with only two defeats suffered in the championship but of course its now one for one after his return....

Knight admitted that he wasn't happy being on the sidelines but he's not "a selfish player" and has continued to offer encouragement to those that have kept him out and "holds his hands up" that younger players keeping him out do so on merit.

I would say that Knight offers experience that others can learn from, but from what I have seen of him in recent times I think that he is past his best, but perhaps it would be unfair to say that he was a jinx and the Huddersfield defeat was merely coincidental....

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he's currently not well, he'll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he's got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.

Please include your username so I can put that to it though.

Not a selfish player? The number of times he waltzes off up the pitch in search of the "hero tackle" leaving the remainder of his back line to pick up the pieces and hopefully not concede is ridiculous. He's not a jinx, but it's no coincidence, either - he's terrible. In fact, I suspect Mr Ecky is in fact ill because Zat Knight was picked on Tuesday, which has caused His Eckiness to be struck down with a terrible bout of Pavor Knocturnus (Knight Terror).
How would it be a coincidence?? He didnt play at Boro! By saying he isnt a selfish player he means that he has encouraged the CBs playing in his place and not gone sulking, his attitude to being dropped has been good, he has done well coming on in later games for us. It wasnt his fault we lost on Tuesday and he was our best player, give him some credit for that. Giving him grief wont help him play better, he wouldnt be in my team more than anyone elses but surely people getting behind him if he does players might help a little? Back to the booing when his name is announced tomorrow no doubt!
We looked very solid without him. Mills and Ream stayed where they were supposed to and didn't charge 20 yards ahead of the defensive line chasing a ridiculous tackle even once. They held the line where they should and restricted Doncaster to three shots, only one of which was on target. Knight just runs off. It doesn't matter how hard he tries for me, he's always going to be a bad defender because he ignores the tactics that the rest of the team follow. Until he learns that, I want him neither in the starting 11 nor on the bench.
Knight played well in that loss, I think fans are too harsh on him.
Yes, calling him a jinx is a little bit harsh - even for Bolton fans!
