Bolton Wanderers: Owen Coyle Sacked

Vital Bolton don't do news, but as we don't want to be left behind, we'll just let you know that we are aware of Owen Coyle's dismissal.

This is a sad day for everyone attached to the club. Coyle is a former player who is also a good man and it is a real shame that he could not do the job that he was brought in to do.

We will take a couple of hours to digest this and then give our opinion later this afternoon.

In the meantime, thanks for the effort OC. You're still a hero to this fan.

I've just noticed that Jimmy Phillips and SAMMY LEE are caretaker bosses. Please tell me they've already got someone lined up to take over...

Sammy Lee in charge at Bolton again, if only temporarily and jointly with Jimmy Phillips, who would have bet on that one?

Sammy Lee is not the man for the job, he was a disaster previously. We need someone who will clear out the dead wood, i won't go through the names again, and get the rest of the slackers into some sort of shape. Some of the players have let down a man who put an awful lot of faith in them. Don't know about Mick McCarthy, but other possible names to consider - Peter Reid, Brown Phil, Jimmy Phillips, Alan Curbishley, Harry RedKnapp (you never know).

Agree with Mr X's assessment of Owen Coyle, great player and nice guy, but not up to the job. Let's hope now the Owner & Chairman can select the correct man for the job as their previous 3 appointments have proven to be poor

How can Gartside still be in charge with this track record ?

Totally agree but there was no chance of the "Teflon Don" getting sacked too, that would be too much to hope for!

This is what the majority of us wanted. It is the right decision. I personally would like Alan Curbishley he has done what we wish to acheive this season twice before. He also established Charlton as a non to shabby side in the Premier League. He has never been fired for being Crap and was once in the running for England managers job. By far the best English candidate out there at the moment? is he available/interested? anyone else agree?

Frustrated to hear the news - on a few levels; frustrated it didn't work for all; frustrated it took so long to take this decision. But I will be even more frustrated if we going for a sticking plaster manager e.g. McCarthy (I would rather we coaxed Rioch out of retirement). Business plans aside (Eddie Davies' pockets can cope with another season of parachute payments) this is a massive opportunity for new blood - someone like Gary Neville or Paul Clement http://bit.ly/RMXZ6D would fit he bill perfectly. Be Brave

Fake why be brave? Sounds a bit un ambitious, but i would be happy with promotion back to PL and being stabilised as a mid table prem club where Curbishley at least has the pedigree and experience to take us. A platform to build on. Why risk another 'up and coming manager'! I dunno about you but i would hate to see it go wrong again!

Coyle may well be a nice man, have no idea. It's also entirely beside the point. Niceness is not a priority. Look at Ferguson - one of the nastiest creeps around. Let's get real - Curbishley won't come north - especially to a team with no funds. If Gartside hasn't got something planned he's even worse than we thought
