Things Get Worse for Tal Ben Haim
The future looked so bright for former Bolton defender Tal Ben Haim. He was well regarded at the Reebok and had an offer of a new deal, described by chairman Phil Gartside as 'an offer he can`t refuse.` He refused it.
Out of contract, Ben Haim went to Chelsea, where he fared badly. He did no better at Manchester City or on loan at Sunderland, and joined Portsmouth at the start of the season.
Speaking of his time at Stamford Bridge, the Israeli was non-too flattering about manager Avram Grant.
'Jose Mourinho is the reason I came to Chelsea and if I knew Avram Grant was going to be the coach then I would have signed for another club,` he said.
'I knew that nothing good would come with Grant as Chelsea coach.`
Today, Grant has been appointed as Portsmouth manager. Things may get kind of interesting at the first team talk.
