'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bullard is a Tiger

Bolton`s chances of signing Jimmy Bullard receded still further with the news that he is in talks with Hull City. Phil Brown matched the Cottagers £5 million valuation of the player and is now in talks with him.

'There is a long way to go where Jimmy is concerned, but hopefully in the next 24 hours we will have a new player,` said Suntan.

'It is an ambitious attempt, but it is showing a sign to everyone of how serious Paul Duffen and Phil Brown are in regards to this year's Premier League campaign.`

'I will emphasise that there is still a lot of work to do.`

It`s slightly worrying that Phil Brown is now speaking of himself in the third person, but that`s Hull`s problem.

In other news, despite the credit crunch, retailers in Bolton have noticed a surge in pitchfork sales to men wearing Wanderers replica kit. Analysts are attempting to establish whether there is a link between this and Gary Megson`s apparent lack of transfer activity.

Update : Hull have now signed Jimmy Bullard for £5 million on a four and a half year deal.

I'm confused. I thought Fulham rejected Bolton's bid of £5 million as they wanted £6 million?. Now it's confirmed that he's joined Hull for £5 million! It is embarrassing how a team who are having their first ever season in the top flight are showing a lot more ambition than Bolton.

I don't think a figure was ever put on Bolton's bid. All that was said was that it was well short of Fulham's valuation. Decent player, but if the wages quoted are correct he'll work out a tad expensive.
