The Genius of the BBC - Part 87

Bolton go into Saturday`s game against West Brom with a couple of players injured. One of them is Matt Taylor. The BBC`s website preview reports correctly that the former Portsmouth midfielder has a broken toe.

So it`s a bit of a surprise, when this nugget of information appears, further down the page in the key player notes section.

If he scores:-
Matthew TAYLOR will take his club career total to 50 (Luton, Portsmouth and Bolton).

Not that this cock-up is much of a shock. Not long ago the Beeb was reporting that Bolton had a player called Ian Nolan. He must have been related to that Kevin chap, who was writing a column for them at the time.

We all love the BBC for different reasons, mine being MOTD. We also hate the BBC for different reasons, mine being Mark Lawrenson (he hates M'Boro)

BBC had George McCartney down for a 200th West Ham appearance against Blackburn, obviously meaning Sunderland aswell. He's only played 50-odd times for us.

To be fair, they always put the bits at the bottom about key players regardless as to what they've said at the top. When Gary Neville was out injured for like years, they always had him as making his something or other start for United if he played. I guess they're just letting everyone know what will happen in the next game they play.

Er yes, but that's just laziness. I realise that the BBC don't have the resources of Sky et al, but it can't be difficult to avoid such obvious mistakes.

Fancy calling him Ian! Everyone knows Colleen Nolan is one of your better players! Tsk!

I've always thought that Bernadette was better, especially at set pieces.
