An Improbable Tug of War

Hull City and West Brom are competing for the signature of unwanted Bolton centre-back Abdoulaye Meite. The signing of Danny Shittu cleared the way for the disposal of the big Ivorian and the fee is likely to be around 2 million with add-ins for appearances (especially second-half ones.)

Bolton fans would prefer that he goes to Hull. Nothing against West Brom, but those of us who have volunteered to drive Meite to his next club would rather not negotiate the M6, especially on a Friday.

Is *Shittu really better than Meite? I'm not so sure.
