El Hadji Diouf in Bomb Scare

Bolton Wanderers player El Hadji Diouf has been involved in a number of incidents over the past few years, but even for him, events at Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos on Thursday were bizarre. Diouf was travelling to Jay Jay Okocha`s farewell game in Delta State, Nigeria, along with Okocha himself and a number of other players, including Benjani of Manchester City, Portsmouth`s Sulley Muntari and Yakubu of Everton.

The plane was taxiing on the runway when Jide Aminu, who claimed that he was an investment banker, said that he was on the wrong plane. The pilot made a U-turn to enable him to alight, but the passengers, fearing that Aminu had planted a bomb on the aircraft, protested.

Eventually, as an assurance that he hadn`t done anything untoward, Aminu agreed to travel on the plane to Warri, before returning to Lagos, from where he could travel to Abuja, his intended destination.
