Farewell Game Arranged for Okocha

Former Bolton Wanderers captain Jay-Jay Okocha will say goodbye to football tonight with a specially arranged game at the Warri Township Stadium in Nigeria. Michael Essien, Emmanuel Adebayor, Didier Drogba, Rigobert Song, Patrick Mboma, Samuel Eto'o and Sulley Muntari are expected to feature for a World XI which will take on Nigeria.

The match has been organised by the Delta State Government to honour Okocha, who played for his country for twelve years. Okocha will be remembered by Bolton fans for the scintillating football he played in the 2002-3 season as the club avoided relegation, and for captaining the side as they qualified for Europe for the first time.

Have a good one Jay-Jay. Come back and see us sometime.

Match has been delayed for close to 2 hours now. The spectators are waiting in the Warri stadium but the game is yet to kick off. I don't know what the problem is. I'm waiting to watch the game. Good initiative anyway.

Cheers for that. Keep us updated.

Well, I hear that the Governor of the state hosting the match, Delta State in the Niger/Delta region of Nigeria, was attacked by gunmen on his way to the Stadium and some people in his entourage were killed. That's why the game was delayed. It might be postponed. Very sad for Jay Jay. I'd keep you updated.

Thanks, again.
